Bin the idea of that heavy, board-stiff satin. This fabric is soft, and it's got a sort of muted glow to it.
Up top, the wrap V-neck does absolute wonders. And the little ruffle sleeves are a nice touch—they give you a bit of cover without looking frumpy.
There's a wide gathered band at the waist that cinches you in nicely, then it kicks out into a full tea-length skirt. That length is a lifesaver, by the way. It looks proper old-school glam, but without the aggro. It hits right at the calf, so you're not dragging a train through the grass or yanking it up the second you hit the dance floor.
And because it's high stretch, it moves with you. You can sit through the long speeches, eat a full meal, and hit the dance floor without feeling like you're going to pop a seam.
